The sun is solidly out for the first time since the tropical storm went through last Saturday. It's so frickin bright I had to pull the curtains closed. #weather

I'm going to attempt to play Baldur's Gate 3 today and maybe find some kind of direction to go in the sprawlingly directionless Act 3. I increasingly wish the game had ended at the end of Act 2. #baldursgate3

It's blog publishing day and I'm waking up with an unfinished post and the remnants of yesterday's crushing headache and can't really read a computer screen. So that's cool. #blog

Is it just me or does everybody else feel like 90% of what's available to buy from Audible is now self-published and it's very difficult to find something that might possibly be a quality piece of work vetted by people who know what they're doing? There's a point where I find myself thinking, "You know, _some_ gatekeeping actually isn't a terrible idea." #audiobooks

I've started alternating playing Baldur's Gate 3 and Dragon Age Origins. They're even more similar games than I realized. BG3 would have been a thousand times better if they'd adopted the third-person camera style of DAO. The combat in DAO stinks though. Very boring and skippable. And it's always funny to play an old game where it's super obvious that everyone except the principle characters is voiced by no more than one or two voice actors. #baldursgate3 #dragonageorigins

I'm really struggling to maintain interest in Baldur's Gate 3 in Act 3 and I can't quite put my finger on why. I think it's just that the game has worn out its welcome. You would have thought that a Final Act would accelerate toward a conclusion, but Act 3 just drags on and on and on and it feels like a big letdown. It feels like you're starting a brand new game that's a sequel, like you've gone well beyond what should have been the logical stopping point. (It doesn't help that Act 3 also appears noticeably less polished than the first 2 acts.) #baldursgate3

I loaded tweetdeck.twitter.com to see if maybe there had been a reversal of previous business decisions but it was the same. It just forwarded to the standard web UI which still is and has always been unusable for my purposes.

Felt terrible yesterday and still feel terrible today. And it's still cloudy and wet and miserable since tropical storm Ophelia went through Saturday and it's going to remain the same for the rest of the week. Bleh.

Arrrrg I'm finding myself actively not wanting to play Baldur's Gate 3 anymore. The city stuff at the end is just a slog. Everything in Act 1 and Act 2 is combat, combat, combat, but then suddenly in Act 3 everything is story, story, story. It's almost like Act 3 is a sequel that should have been a totally different game. #baldursgate3

The Great Hunt audiobook finished. It was as confusingly rushed at the end as I remember it being. But I had completely forgotten the long and boring middle part, with good reason. "I'm not playing your Great Game!" For fifty chapters in a row. Yawn. Oh, epic high fantasy. Always a roller coaster of pacing. #wheeloftime
